Summary of the Final narrative report for REDOS project

The REDOS project addresses one of the most acute problems in Montenegrin higher education: Harmonization of Doctoral Studies (DS) with the needs of academia, industry and society at large, as well as with the advanced EU and oversees practices. 

The overall objective of the project was to reform Doctoral Studies at the University of Montenegro (UoM) in line with the Bologna Process and Salzburg Principles, by fostering quality of doctoral research and synergy between academia, industry and innovation.

The specific objectives were:

  • the development of the comprehensive Strategy for reforming and improving Doctoral Studies at UoM;
  • the enhancement of the functionality, quality and visibility of the recently established Centre for Doctoral Studies (CDS) at the UoM by constant training of supervisors, candidates and management and administrative boards responsible for DS;
  • the enhancement of infrastructural resources by developing  Information System and Network (IS&N) and enabling access to the scientific databases;
  • fostering internationalisation of the DS Studies and DS Centre. 

The project has accomplished the following results:

1. The comprehensive Strategy for reforming and improving Doctoral Studies at the University of Montenegro has been developed and published.
2. Information System and Network of the Centre for Doctoral Studies at the University of Montenegro has been developed.
3. Knowledge transfer from EU universities and EU Higher Education Area to the UoM and Montenegro has been done through:

  • Three (3) workshops/trainings/seminars;
  • One (1) Conference related to the reform of Doctoral Studies;
  • Two (2) mobility visits of Montenegro Teams to relevant EU education institutions with the aim of capacity building;
  • Constant/daily training of supervisors, PhD students, administrative staff etc. in line with requirements for reform of Doctoral Studies.

4. Improved visibility and internationalisation of the CDS through:

  • Published dissemination material;
  • Developed and published or legislative acts related to the doctoral studies.

5. Provided sustainability of CDS by its embedding in functional and organisational scheme of UoM.
