Awarding Ceremony BLUE FLAG AD MARINA BAR

AD Marina Bar became the first marina in Montenegro in which flies the "Blue Flag". Getting Blue Flag is enabled through the "SUST Marina", in which the Ministry of Science has awarded a grant of 240,000 euros, for a period of three and a half years, Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Montenegro.

Director General for scientific research, Dr. Darko Petrusic said at today's ceremony in Bar, that the project SUST Marina gave outstanding results, and that this is an example of research project in which we can be proud.

"This project can be applied in other marinas, because it contributes to the development of nautical tourism in Montenegro. It also contributes to the development of science and, therefore, we are pleased that today we have a chance to officially celebrate the day when the first one marina in Montenegro achieves this result, "said the director Petrusic at the official ceremony on the occasion of the award of the Blue Flag, which is celebrated on day of celebrating the International environment day.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Science will continue to invest in science, innovation and research, which will certainly yield results.

Director of JP Morsko dobro,  Predrag Jelusic, said that respect environmental quality standards in Montenegro can be competitive to other European destinations.

Executive Director of Marina, Radovan Orlandić, accented in his address to the guests at the ceremony that this award contributes to the high positioning of AD Marina Bar in the regional and national level maritime economy and provides confirmation of the quality range of services in the world of nautical tourism.

This year 14 beaches included a pilot project as a competitor to the winners of the Blue Flag certificate. In the Municipality of Bar certificate is handed over to the pool of "Korali", Sutomore. The total will be awarded 24 blue flags for: one beachin Herceg Novi, three in Tivat, eleven in Budva, two in Bar and seven in Ulcinj.

Prof. Branislav Dragovic, PhD, head of the project SUST-MARINA, recalled that AD Marina Bar in addition to this, the first recipient of the ISO 9001 certification and ISO 14001 edition from 2015, so it is realistic to expect soon and other awards related to the quality of work, such as obtaining gold anchor (Gold Anchor Scheme).

Sustainability of marinas has become a global initiative primarily because the program promotes sustainable development in coastal areas. This is a challenging step because marine operators must achieve high standards of water quality, environmental management, educational framework for environmental protection and safety.
